During the Spanish Civil War, Barcelona tried to stop its bombing with several anti air-raid installations of earth-to-air projectiles. The remains of the Turó de la Rovira one offer spectacular views over nowadays Barcelona. And they have a vibrant history!

Years after the war was finished, many immigrants arrived to Barcelona built their own homes (mostly shacks) and established their lives in informal housing for years or decades, until the city growth and the rural area of Guinardó became a worker’s class neighborhood of Barcelona.

We will visit all the remains of the war installations and the shacks, getting astonishing views from the city at the same time. Afterwards, we will get down to nowadays reality of Guinardó, where workers start to meet tourists, expats, new immigration and gentrification.
