Call & Aljama, the Jewish BCN
JUE

It was hidden and looted, but Barcelona keeps a clear memory of its Jewish past… Among cathedrals, palaces of the archbishop, streets dedicated to Saints and with Catholic images, the past of the Jewish community in the city is hidden. More than 4,000 Jews lived inside the walled Barcelona at the end of the 14th century.

We will talk about the daily life of the Aljama: the food, the patriarchal organization, the training, prayer, the death rituals, the festivals, the relationship with the Christians… and also about the area of the Call: what it was like , where it was, how it evolved, what remains remain today… We will walk for two hours among interpretations and memories.
